A beautiful detailed print of Abraham Munting's original painting from 1696.

The plant is displayed in a decorative earthy terracotta urn with mounted leaves, circular orbits and even a dragons' heads if you look closely. The Latin name of the plant is carved into the slightly crumbling marble pillar, very much a look of its time.

Its very detailed foliage dominates and fills the area in this scene, while the simple delicate coral and blush coloured flowers give it a touch of grace and elegance.

This print is presented under glass, with a classic champagne and black edged frame, to complete its antique Illustration.

Abraham  Munting was a Dutch botanist and botanical artist. He studied medicine and botany, as a young man he travelled extensively, living for a time in France, before returning to Hollands to work at the University of Groningen, where he directed one of the most extensive botanical gardens of the period from 1658 to 1683.

A truly stunning piece of art, that would grace any wall in your home.
